The notes in a fragrance are categorized in a pyramid from least to most prominent. The top three notes classified in a scent are the top, heart, and base notes. The notes at the top of the pyramid have a higher tendency to evaporate while those at the bottom are longer lasting.
Top notes are often citrus or Lavender scents. Followed up by cinnamon and jasmine as the heart notes and finally vanilla and musk linger as the base notes.
These guidelines are subjective to the creator; however, there are a common formula for many favored scents. When in making manufacturers take into consideration how this scent will make the user feel at the end of its wear.
